The annual Pink Ball “Generations” organized by the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry was successfully held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 26th October, 2019. Moving into the 12th year, our work has benefited different family members, and one of our goals is to pass our knowledge to different generations.

We were delighted to have Professor Sophia Chan as our officiating guest. In her opening speech, Professor Chan showed her support for the work of THE REGISTRY in promoting breast cancer prevention, early detection and surveillance which aligns with the goals of the Hong Kong Cancer Strategy launched by the government. Our Chairman Professor Ava Kwong shared the latest services and developments of THE REGISTRY.

This year, the dance performances were specially arranged, starting with ten little ballerinas to take us on a wonderful journey, followed by a vibrant Cha Cha in the charity dance section performed by Ms. Chelsa Tsang. Professional dance by overseas performers even brought the event to a climax.

We invited a breast cancer survivor to share her story and how the Registry supported her by early detection. For the first time, the Registry has produced a series of video to educate the public about hereditary cancers. The video “Dear Gene”, with a hereditary breast cancer survivor as the main cast deeply moved the audience.

We were able to raise over HK$600 million, and would like to show our heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors, donors and guests. The donation is used for financing the underserved high-risk families to access free genetic testing, counseling, early detection, free drug programme and research related to hereditary cancers.
